On 2 March 2015, The Language Unit of General Studies Department organized a programme called Chain Reaction Competition. The programme, aimed to allow Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan (PIS) students to express their thoughts in English and nurture their creativity, was participated by the third semester students of the institution.

In the programme, the students were required to execute their chain reaction plans. Besides, the students also needed to explain about how their chain reaction activities were carried out. There were seventeen entries altogether.

Throughout the course of the event, a number of spectacular moments were captured. The winning entry from DKM 3A produced a series of chain effects that freed two birds from their cage. The second prize winners from DRG 3A on the other hand managed to create a series of effects that caused the name of their class to surface on a board. Meanwhile, DHK 3B students created third prize winning chain reaction effects that enable a person to tuck in Malaysian delicacy, nasi lemak easily.

Towards the end of the programme, programme manager, Mr. Yeow Chee Kheong delivered his speech in front of almost 200 members of audience. In his speech, Mr. Yeow addressed the importance of taking part in any programme organized by the polytechnic. According to him, students would be gaining valuable experience that would be useful in their lives.

It is hoped that such a programme will be carried out more often in the future. This is to ensure that PIS students are equipped with relevant knowledge and educational exposure before they have they become part of the workforce in the country.
