CHAIN REACTION PROGRAMME 2019 REPORT
Event : Chain Reaction Programme
Date : September
– October 2019
Throughout the month
of September until September, English Unit of General Studies Department
organized Chain Reaction Programme 2019, a video competition that highlighted
one of the topic learned in DUE3012 – Processes and Procedures. It aimed to
pursue students’ hidden creativity in genuinely creating a domino-effect game
using TVET tools or items that are associated with their course. Besides, it
focuses to boast the students’ confidence level to communicate in English.
There were around 450
students from JRKV, JKM, JPH and JKE took part in this competition. Groups were
formed by the students in each class and they will carry out the game in the
video. Each group were required to record the video around 3 to 5 minutes. Their
video will be assessed basically in terms of their creativity, content as well
as the language.
So far, the students
were very committed in producing the video. They integrated whatever they have
learned in the topic, such as, imperative language in instructions and also
passive voice, together with their creativity in producing and editing the
video. The interesting part was they have to upload the video to YouTube and
share the link to everyone, so that other students could watch the video.
Certificates were given to every student individually at the end of the month.
Credits should be given
to the DUE3012 English lecturers who have never stopped helping and giving ideas
although initially the students were facing some technical problems. As a
suggestion, the lecturers should ask the students to use more TVET tools in
their video so it will be more interesting in the future.
