This programme: MOOC - Online Learning Competition 2016 was thus carried out with the main aim to boost the motivation of students to engage in and submit work of compelling quality to the platform towards successful implementation of the test run. The said programme has run for a time frame of about five (5) weeks (4 September – 13 October 2016), including the grace period. The benefits of this programme are two-fold. Firstly, this programme can help our students to develop their ideas and do the necessary preparation for their oral presentation as this online course was developed by taking into account the essential subskills needed for students to accomplish their oral presentation assessment. Secondly, constructive feedback given by Course Tutors as well as the peers’ comments can scaffold the students’ learning as they were engaged in an interactive and supportive online learning environment.

Besides, this programme can also nurture discovery and independent learning as it can scaffold learner autonomy in the learning process. Learners are generally assisted to become more autonomous in the virtual classroom. Most importantly, through this programme, students were also led to see as how they can support each other in an online community, in line with our efforts to create a supportive language learning environment that can facilitate the students’ learning!
